The history of the Simbravieh breed is short. La Muneca Cattle Co. was instrumental in getting the Simrah-Braunvieh cross recognized as composite breed. In the spring of 2007 , the BAA Board of Directors passed guidelines allowing members to develope composites of percentage Braunvieh cattle to be registered by the BAA under different classes within the Certified BeefBuilder registry. The Simbravieh were the pilot project for this change in guidelines.
We have already shown the benefits of the Simbrah cattle (see page on Simbrah) so let’s look at how these combine with the characteristics of the Braunvieh cattle to produce the traits you see below.
Braunvieh cattle are moderate sized, well muscled cattle with a quiet temperament. They have strong maternal traits with high milk production. They also have good feed conversion. Put all these traits together and you have a very low birth weight, high wean weight, fast maturing, muscled animal that adapts well to the hot arid regions in the south.
